Owner of Experiences (Pseudo I) – The ego, the tuner that tunes awareness to shine at different places. Ego considers itself to be unique and special. Sometimes the tuning is automatic, for example the mind automatically goes towards an interesting event without conscious tuning but the ego still claims the experience.
Impersonal Awareness (Real I) – This is the absolute truth that alone takes every form. There is only one real I, so it is unique but is not special as there is nothing else but it.
Being deluded by ignorance, one mistakes a thing for what it is not. In the absence of discrimination, the snake is mistaken for a rope, and great danger befalls one who seizes it through this false notion. So listen, my friend, it is mistaking the not-Self for the Self (the unreal for the Real) that creates bondage. [Vivekachudamani, Translated by Acharya Pranipata Chaitanya]
